Santa Flora police cry for vehicles
Police officers of the Santa Flora Police Station are pleading to the respective authorities to provide them with police vehicles. Speaking to Newsday yesterday, officers said that it has been two years since they are left without vehicles and that the situation is very frustrating. They claim that numerous reports were made to senior officers, but nothing has been done. The police said, “Where it is that we are willing to protect and serve the people of the district, it is made impossible sometimes and rather embarrassing at times — meaning that we have to tell the said persons who are making reports to send a vehicle to pick us up so that they can carry us to the scene for us to do our job and then take us back to the station.”
They added, “The officers who have private cars have no choice but to resort to using their private cars to make house calls and the like because of the lack of vehicles and if something does happen and their vehicle is damaged in the process, they would not be able to claim compensation.” The frustrated officer related that recently, officers of the Oropouche Police Station crashed two vehicles consecutively and immediately the vehicles were replaced and in another incident, one of the police vehicles at Erin Police Station was not working and they also received another vehicle to replace it. The officer said that the Santa Flora police officers want to know exactly what is happening concerning vehicles for use by officers at Santa Flora Station.
