Teen, 15, injured after crashing car
A PT FORTIN youth remains hospitalised with a broken leg after crashing a car he took from his father’s garage on Sunday. According to reports, the 15-year-old youth of Main Road Fanny Village, took a Nissan B14 Sentra car from the garage of his father Dave Ramgosine, who is a straightener. The car was left at the garage by owner Wendell Seapaul, of New Lands, Point Fortin. Reports stated that Ramgosine went into the Point Fortin area to carry out errands and was returning home at the time of the accident. While driving in a northern direction en route to his home, the car collided head-on with a three-tonne Mazda truck owned by Namalco Construction Services. The accident occurred 200 feet from the teen’s home.
The teen sustained a broken leg, cuts and abrasions to his face and body. He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital along with two other men, aged 18 and 25, who were treated and discharged. Both men who were passengers in the car driven by the teen, were questioned by police on Sunday . The car received major damage as a result of the accident. The occupants of the truck did not suffer any injuries. Members of the Point Fortin CID are trying to determine whether the boy was given permission by an elder to drive the vehicle. He is expected to be charged with driving a vehicle under the legal age, driving without the vehicle owner’s consent and driving without a Driving Permit (DP). PC Kevin Richardson of Point Fortin CID is continuing investigations.
