‘The Student’ sends another warning

OUTSTANDING three-year-old Top Of The Class continued to send warning signals to his seven rivals in Saturday’s Caribbean Champion Stakes, when he had a smooth “blow out” over 800 metres at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, yesterday. The Triple Crown winner who is after local horseracing history and a $1 million Colonial Life Insurance Company bonus in the 1800-metres spotlight event, completed the distance in 48.3 seconds effortlessly. Another to catch the eye yesterday morning was Miss Lover Lover who stepped 1000 metres in the good time of 1:03.6 seconds. This filly is sure to give a good account of herself in the Makeson Stout Starter Allowance race over 1100 metres on the turf course.

And Man of Class who hold the Carib Beer Trophy Caribbean Sprint Championship engagement over 1300 metres, was timed in 36.6 seconds for a 600 metres spin. Only worthwhile gallop on Monday morning came from Philadelphian, one of 14 entered for the Malta Carib Trophy Caribbean Juvenile Sprint over 1300 metres. This one returned 36.6 seconds for a 600 metres gallop; on the main track. Apart from this two-year-old colts’ work, trainers generally took things easy with their charges on Monday morning.
