Guard shoots guard outside restaurant
AN argument between two security guards employed with different companies resulted in one of them being shot in the leg by the other yesterday morning. Police have since detained a 34-year-old security guard attached to a Chaguanas security company. The suspect is expected to be charged with wounding the other guard, who at the time was on duty at a popular restaurant in South Trinidad. According to police reports, at around 11.30 am, Junior Salana, 32, was on duty at Jenny’s Wok, Victoria Village, San Fernando when a Carib delivery truck pulled up in front of the businessplace to deliver goods.
Sources said Salana and the delivery truck security guard worked in the same security firm before and there was animosity towards each other following a previous argument. The men began shouting at each other yesterday, with the 34-year-old Carib truck guard drawing his firearm and shooting Salana in the leg. Salana was subsequently taken to San Fernando General Hospital, where he was treated and warded in a stable condition. A party of San Fernando CID officers led by Sgt Bellingy went to the restaurant and arrested the other guard, whose firearm was also seized. Up to late yesterday evening, the guard was assisting officers in their investigation. Charges are expected to be laid soon.
