Man arrested for sex act on child
A Belmont man yesterday appeared before Chaguaramas Court Magistrate Debra Quintin, charged with sexual assault of a ten-year-old girl. According to reports, the girl and her family were picnicking at Williams Bay, Chaguaramas on Tuesday evening, when the man befriended her, showing her how to build sand castles on the beach front. The man even volunteered to teach her how to swim.
It was around 4.30 pm, while lifting her in the water, the 26-year-old man allegedly pushed his hand between her legs, causing the child to scream out. The child reported the matter to her aunt, who in turn reported it to the nearby police station. The unemployed man, who has several pending charges before the court, was arrested and charged with sexual assault of a minor under the Sexual Offences Act. When the matter was called before the magistrate, he was not called on to plead and the matter was adjourned to today for tracing and bail. Constable Brisbane laid the charge.
