Caribs, Northern in Minshall Cup final

TRINIDAD and Tobago Northern Rugby Football Club will face rival and up holders Caribs RFC in the Marcus Minshall Cup final tonight at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Nothern recently upset Caribs to take the Bruno Brown Cup to avenge an earlier defeat to Caribs in the Robert Farfan Memorial Trophy game and the Solomon Hochoy Cup in the Trinidad and Tobago Rugby Football Union’s Ruggerama Competition. Caribs are keen however to gain revenge for that Bruno Browne defeat going into tonight’s game, but Northern have been boosted by the presence of Robert Lum Kong.

One of Trinidad and Tobago’s greatest rugby exports Lum Kong migrated to the United States in the early nineties where he had an extended run on the US national rugby team as a back row forward, a career which included a 1999 berth in the US Rugby World Cup squad.
In the first game of the double header Rainbow RFC will battle Royalians RFC in the Senior Division knockout final from 6 pm. The other cup final will follow from 8 pm. On Sunday Rainbow RFC will host the 2003 TTRFU National Rugby 7’s Championship at the Marabella Recreation Grounds from 12 pm.
