Problem of illegal immigrants

THE EDITOR: Kindly allow me a space in your newspaper to make an open appeal to the authorities at the Immigration Division to deal with the problem of illegal immigrants.

Within recent times, I have seen an increase in the number of illegal immigrants in the area where I live. These individuals openly admit to overstaying the time allowed to them, and are even boldface enough to admit, while illegally in the country, they are also working. I have made several reports to the Immigration Division but no one seems to know that this is part of the issue of crime, when individuals overstay their time and also they create social problems we must deal with. I make an open appeal to the Immigration Division to take stock of persons entering the country, especially those of our Caricom neighbours. It is time something is done before our country is overrun by these individuals.
