V’zuelan stowaways found hiding in cargo vessel
THREE Venezuelan stowaways, who were found hiding on a cargo vessel which docked at the Atlantic LNG port, were expected to be returned to their homeland late yesterday evening.
The three men were detained by officials of the Immigration Department minutes after they were discovered aboard the vessel, on Thursday morning. Immigration officials told Newsday that the men were discovered around 9 am, when the cargo vessel “Baltimore Orion,” transporting construction material, docked at Atlantic LNG port in Point Fortin. Newsday learnt that the Venezuelan nationals boarded the vessel in the Bahamas, thinking it was bound for the United States. Immigration officials were yesterday making arrangements to have the men returned to Venezuela.
