Cox fourth in Martinique race
TRINIDAD and Tobago long distance star Curtis Cox has beaten Caribbean king Pamenos Ballantyne. But Cox finished only fourth in Sunday’s Fort de France half marathon behind two Kenyans and a Martiniquan.
The Trinidadian runner was fourth home in 1:09.7 seconds, but Kenyan John Kanda was across the line first in 1:06.02 seconds followed by fellow-Kenyan Jacob Kitur in 1:06.06. Martinique’s Claude Nohile finished third in 1:07.54 and Cox fourth with Ballantyne struggling home 13th in 1:13.40. Kenyan Elisabeth Chenweno was the first woman to finish in 1:23.43 seconds ahead of Flore Saber of France with Guyline Louis of Guadeloupe filling third spot.
