Warner attends W/Cup 2006 draw

FIFA vice-president and CONCACAF boss Austin Jack Warner will visit Germany today to attend the draw for the 2006 World Cup.

Warner spent the past week in the United Arab Emirates where he was chief organiser of  the current FIFA World Youth Championship. While in the UAE he watched two matches, the opener between Saudi Arabia and Republic of Ireland at the Al Ain Stadium , and Japan vs England  at the Al-Maktoum Stadium. Commenting on the draw, which will take place tomorrow, Warner said: “Mr (Joseph Sepp) Blatter has advised me that everything is in order and the main points to be discussed are how the half places for the Finals will be allocated. “I have in my own mind how this should be done regarding CONCACAF, which is as originally scheduled, for CONCACAF to meet Asia. This I shall fight for,” he added.

Warner also met with former head of the Football Company of Trinidad and Tobago (FCOTT) Peter Miller, now CEO of English Division Three club Northampton Town and club chairman David Cardoza at a referees dinner in the UAE on Sunday. Warner, in his capacity as an adviser to the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) met with the duo to arrange friendly matches, on a home-and-away basis for the national senior football team, which is currently preparing for World Cup qualifiers beginning next June.
