Woman charged with stabbing woman

A WOMAN who was charged with allegedly striking another with a bottle and then allegedly stabbing her with the broken bottle, was yesterday granted $30,000 bail with a surety when she appeared before a San Fernando magistrate to answer the charge. Janet Charles, 34, of Byron Street, La Romaine appeared before Acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington in the San Fernando First Court charged with wounding Simone Richards, 21, with intent on Monday. PC Bisnath of the San Fernando CID arrested and charged Charles. Richards was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where she received 19 stitches to a finger on her right hand and 21 stitches to the left side of her neck. Court prosecutor Cpl Fernando did not object to bail for Charles, who has no previous convictions. Charles is due to re-appear in court on December 12.
