ECA backs TSTT over no disciplinary action issue
THE Employers’ Consultative Association (ECA) yesterday expressed its unequivocal support to the management of TSTT for rejecting the CWU’s demand that no disciplinary action be taken against TSTT employees for acts committed during the course of recent negotiations.
In a release, the ECA said the CWU’s demand for amnesty was difficult to comprehend especially since it was the secretary general who publicly asserted “that members of the union did not commit any acts of indiscipline and the union would not condone such actions.” The ECA said no responsible management of any company “can agree to surrender its responsibility to properly manage the company in accordance with its rules and regulations, and the provisions of applicable collective agreements.” It also urged TSTT to “resist demands of the union in this regard, and to continue to ensure that employees conduct themselves at all times in accordance with the rules and norms of good organisational behaviour.”
