Man held with home-made shotgun
MEMBERS of the Couva Task force under Sgt Lumy foiled a possible murder plan yesterday morning. Acting on information, the officers stopped a maxi-taxi in the Couva area and held a man with a homemade shotgun and four live rounds of ammunition.
The 23-year-old man, according to reports, was involved in an argument with another man of Chase Village and had threatened to shoot the man. The man who was threatened made a report to the police, while the other man left the scene. Sometime later, the man who made the threat was seen returning in a maxi. Police stopped the vehicle, searched it and found the arms and ammunition. The man was taken to the Couva Police Station where he was arrested and charged with possession of the illegal arms and ammunition. He is expected to appear before Chaguanas magistrate this morning. Constable Brandon John laid the charge.
