Caroni labourer charged with murder of housewife

A 25-year-old Caroni man will appear before a Chaguanas magistrate today, charged with the murder of housewife Narwatee Sundar.

The suspect, who is a labourer, was arrested at his home on Friday. On Saturday, Director of Public Prosecutions Geoffrey Henderson gave instructions that the man be charged with the murder of Sundar. The charge of murder was subsequently laid against him by Ag Sgt Corbette of the Caroni Police Station. The 48-year-old mother of four was found dead at her Kelly Village, Caroni home last Tuesday. Her throat was slit and she was stabbed about 20 times. Sundar was supposed to give evidence at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court on Friday against an ex-convict of the area. The man had broken into her home earlier this year and robbed her of a quantity of valuables. Sundar had complained to relatives about threats to her life.
