TSTT camera phones coming in January

TSTT plans to introduce several new camera phones, as well as the Nokia N-gage, with its high quality gaming feature, in January.

Last Friday, the company launched a pre-paid version of its “Mpower” GSM service, accompanied by attractive pre-paid GSM rates and new handsets. The company said it is attempting to repeat the meteoric growth it experienced in mobile sales when it launched pre-paid mobile services on its TDMA network three years ago.

The launch also coincided with its preparation for a multi-million dollar expansion of its GSM network throughout Trinidad and Tobago. TSTT’s vice-president Michael Barrow said, “The company has developed its GSM cell site coverage to provide a much better service, particularly in rural areas in Trinidad and Tobago, and based on its current projections for the market for 2004/2005, TSTT will invest over $100 million to enhance the GSM service, including the building of 17 cell sites in North-East Trinidad; 29 sites in North-West; 14 in Central; 32 in South and 17 in Tobago.”
