My Son John totes 56.5 kilos

MY SON JOHN, Naturelly Classy and Kaser’s Gold were allotted top weights of 56.5 kilos in the two handicap races on the penultimate day’s racing of the Arima Race Club 2003 season at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, last Saturday.

Connections of My Son John have given themselves options with their American-bred three-year-old, who is also among 14 horses for which final subscriptions have been paid to race in the Stewards Cup, feature event on the ten-race programme. Owner/trainer Harold Chadee in an apparent late move to dodge competing against Sugar Mike, Napoleon and Cash Wager in the “Caribbean Sprint Championship” may opt for the Restricted Handicap. Should he choose that route, his My Son John will be handing out weight all round in the 1,200 metres event which attracted 15 entrants yesterday.

In the Handicap he was asked by handicappers Wayne Shockness and Robin Jaisingh to hand out a minimum two kilos to Crimson Tower and Sure Ting, and 12 kilos to bottomweight X To Board. Naturelly Classy and Kaser’s Gold will share topweight against 11 West Indian-bred three-year-olds. In the 1,200 metres run, the Stephen Jardim-trained duo will be handing four kilos to Hundred Percent, five and a half kilos recent winners Sunny and Living In Hope and 12 kilos to Hannibal’s Will at the foot of the handicap.
