Ramos puts chess title on the line
CHAMPION Cesar Ramos will put his title on the line when challenged by John Everon in the fourth round of the Singho Restaurant-sponsored Knights Chess Club 2003 Championship.
The duo, unbeaten after three rounds, meet at the Dretchi Building, Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain, on Thursday from 7 pm. In third round action, Everon recovered from his flagging form to overcome in-form Louyis Wiltshire who was forced to resign. And Ramos destroyed David Maynard, forcing him into submission after a fast-paced match. Ramos and Everon are both on three points each, and they are followed by six players on two points each: Maynard, Wiltshire, Patrick Anthony, Chris Raphael, Ian Ramrattan and Sherwin Duke. Eddison Raphael, Shamah Khan, Alpacino Smith, Jesse Sudan and Vandoff Smith trail have one point apiece.
