Aligning himself with Christ?
THE EDITOR: In the December 4 issue of a daily newspaper there was an article with a banner headline reading, “Manning: I paid to learn.” In addressing a business forum at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Summit in Abuja, Nigeria, the Prime Minister of TT stated that he was given a second chance to govern his country, then drawing on a biblical analogy, he said on Palm Sunday the Jews sang “Hosanna in the highest” for Jesus Christ, and five days later, on Good Friday, they said “Crucify Him,” but reminded his audience that Easter Sunday comes and there was a resurrection — a reference to his own fall at the polls in 1995 and his re-election to office last year. (Keep in mind that these are the words of the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago).
Am I to assume by the above, that this self-proclaimed “Father of the Nation” is now aligning himself with Jesus Christ? If this is indeed so, the possibility exists that he may now change his birth date to December 25. Let me again remind Patrick Manning that only when something sensible is to be said, should silence be interrupted, be it in Abuja, Nigeria or a stable in Bethlehem.
