‘Brands’ bandit identified

The bandit who was killed in all his “brands” clothing at a Guanapo grocery on Thursday evening has been identified as Shawn de Souza, 20, of Quarry Road, Laventille. De Souza, who was released on bail on Tuesday for a similar matter, was shot dead by proprietor Eugene Williams as he attempted to leave the Ma Chin Grocery on Tumpuna Road, Guanapo, following a foiled robbery. Two of his colleagues escaped but de Souza collapsed and died immediately after he was shot. Police told Newsday arrests are imminent. Cpl Philip is investigating.
