Unemployment not the cause

THE EDITOR: Turning briefly to the crime problem one keeps hearing from the odd politican or the other that jobs and more employment is an answer to the crime problem. If this is so, can somebody explain to me why the crime rate has escalated from a 20 percent unemployment rate 30 years ago to what it is today with only 11 percent employment? It seems that we are breeding criminals faster than employable people.
