Car slams into bus, two injured

Two persons sustained injuries when the car in which they were travelling crashed into a Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) bus, yesterday. According to police sources, at around 9.40 am a PTSC bus was proceeding south on the Solomon Hochoy Highway in the vicinity of the Raja Yoga Centre, Edinburgh, Chaguanas when the driver observed two flashing red lights on his dashboard indicating that something was either mechanically or electrically wrong with the bus.

The bus driver then guided the bus onto the shoulder of the highway bringing it to an almost complete hault when a Datsun 280C, driven by Denis Morgan slammed into the right rear of the bus. Morgan suffered a broken wrist, while his passenger, Romatie Maraj suffered a blow to the head, a cut to her face and other minor cuts and bruises. Both persons were taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where they were treated and then transferred to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where they were warded. All 52 passengers of the PTSC bus and the bus driver were not injured. Chaguanas Police are continuing investigations.
