Sealy stopped by doubles partner

RISING tennis star Simeon Sealy has failed at the last hurdle once again.

Yesterday he went down in straight sets to doubles partner Robert Hikel in the Boys 18 and Under final of the RBTT Junior Tennis Tournament at the PSA Tennis Facility, Long circular Road, St James. The 13-year-old Sealy who was beaten in the National Open a week ago, battled bravely against his older opponent, but was beaten 6-3, 6-4.

Nigerian Amunu Adogwa also failed in her bid to win a title when she was beaten 6-3, 6-1 by Kiran Pereira in the Girls 14 and Under final. Carlista Mohammed landed a “double” yesterday when she whipped Sanian Lewis 6-1, 6-2 to take the Girls 16 and Under title, then teamed with her namesake Shenelle to obliterate Anesha Deonarine and Simone Liverpool 6-0, 6-0, in the Senior Girls doubles final. Sealy teamed with Hikel to win the Senior Boys doubles 6-3, 7-5, over Richard Chung and Lendl Smith.

The Girls 18 and Under singles crown went to Brittany Delaney who trounced Anastasia Weedon 6-2, 6-0 in the final. Tiny Emily Aboud was the darling of the court as she took the Girls 10 and Under title over Olivia Mitchell 6-3. 6-1, and Jonathan Gouveia won the boys title in the same age-group when Dawoud Kabli surrendered through injury.  He led 7-6 (7-4), 5-1 before the submission.

JUNIOR BOYS DOUBLES - Steve Day/Liam Gomez bt Christopher Brash/Leon Fraser 6-1, 6-3.
JUNIOR GIRLS DOUBLES - Akeela Smith/Raye Ann Sandy bt Nalini Maharaj/Cheyenne Lutchman 6-2, 6-2.
