Smooth Operator topweight in Sian’s Gold

MANIRAM “Boboy” Maharaj’s speedster Smooth Operator has been handed 56.5 kilos in the feature Sian’s Gold Sprint on New Year’s Day (January 1) at Santa Ros Park, Arima.

He will have to hand out three kilos to the grey locally-bred Napoleon, and two kilos to the very consistent Miss Lover Lover (54.5) in the 1100 metres race on the turf course. Also holding the engagement in the 13-horse field are speedy Fabulous Risk who is near the foot of the handicap with 49 kilos, the very speedy Song Of Freedom (53.5) Invincibility (55.5), My Son John and Sure Wager both with 49.5 kilos. Should the race be shifted from the turf back to the main track, then Invincibility will be the topweight with 56.5 kilos, with Mis Lover Lover taking along 55.5 and Song Of Freedom 53.5.
