Double trouble at Diego river mouth
THE EDITOR: Incredible amusement occurred among dwellers near the mouth of the Diego Martin river on Monday when a much complained, and written about derelict barge resisted efforts to have it moved from across the estuary, and unceremoniously sank, sending workers scampering off the wreck. A crane-barge I am told, at first tried to pump out the partially submerged incredible hulk and drag it east of the river mouth, but the hulk resisted. It was then tugged west, before scuttling itself. The river mouth now has two partially submerged hulks, one off the eastern shore, the other on the west, there to accommodate sea birds, and to snare passing boats at high tide. Everyone awaits the next episode as the authorities urge the barge owners to remove the two wrecks.
