Happiness is a perfume
THE EDITOR: Kindly publish the following, moreso, as it will be beneficial to many people. You are most likely to be happy with people whose concept of happiness is similar to your own; for happiness is a perfume which you can’t pour on someone without getting some on yourself. What do you think are the most important ingredients of happiness? Here are some interesting points. Love for all regardless of class, colour, race or creed. Emotional maturity, making other people happy. To love and be loved. By helping others.
In marriage, the ability to give and take. A sense of accomplishment in small and great endeavours. To be at peace with oneself. A sense of humour and happy thoughts. Such qualities will widen your circle of friendship and acquaintance. For kindness and happiness sake, let us deal with others as we would like to be dealt with. Being understanding, tolerant and generous, turning a blind eye to the bad in people and looking for the good is of vital importance; for you will be creating friendliness and loveable feelings to others. As Emerson wrote — “We must be our own before we can be another”. Think not so much of what you hope to gain, but what you have to offer. Finally, we must adhere to basic principles — like what kind of a husband or a wife do you want? What kind of friends do you want? These things are worth thinking about carefully, for the results of your thinking can make or break the essence and nicety of life.
