A wonderful suggestion

THE EDITOR: Only recently circulated in your Thursday edition of this week, there appeared what I regard as a superb commentary. The writer advised, among other things, that institutions of learning in the nation — public schools, private schools, state assisted schools — should proudly and clearly illustrate a photograph of the first PM of Trinidad and Tobago, the Rt Hon Dr Eric E Williams.

I am seconding that suggestion. Throughout the course of human progress in the journey through time, people have always immortalised their exceptional citizens. Dr Williams and men like Mr Butler before him, men like William Demas or Dr Pawan, have by their accomplishments left a legacy of achievement and greatness for us to follow in TT. Indeed it is truly pathetic, that thousands of your school students, at primary, composite, secondary, comprehensive, technical, vocational and thousands of our adolescent population are in complete ignorance of the meteoric contribution that men such as Dr Williams, Mr Tubal Uriah Butler and Cola Rienzie have given this nation. In my own humble way, I strongly advise that such a suggestion ought to be given the highest consideration and put into effect as early as possible.
