Scott, Bovell clinch Olympic C’tee awards
Hammer thrower Candice Scott and Swimmer George Bovell III were named Sportswoman and Sportsman for 2003 by the Trinidad and Olympic Committee at the Committee’s Annual Awards Ceremony on Monday. Dr Terry Ali, Chairman of the TT Sports Medicine Association was presented with TTOC’s top award — the Alexander B Chapman award for his sterling contributions through his practice of sports medicine. Swim Coach Anil Roberts was awarded the TTOC Sports Personality Award for his coaching successes in 2003.
Crystal Skeete of Bishop’s High School Tobago was selected as this year’s Sport and Education recipient. A total of six awards were presented including special recognition of Joyce Thomas for her contribution to women’s involvement in sport. Thomas was TTOC’s nominee for the 2003 IOC Woman and Sport Trophy. Monday’s function was held under the distinguished patronage of His Excellency Prof-essor George Maxwell Richards, president of Trinidad and Tobago.
