Under-19s for Sri Lankan camp
ST. JOHN’S: The West Indies Under-19s will play five practice matches in Sri Lanka in a preparation camp starting later this month for the forthcoming ICC Youth World Cup (YWC) in Bangladesh. The West Indies players are scheduled to leave the Caribbean on January 25 and face the Sri Lanka Under-17s on January 29. They will then meet Sri Lanka’s Under-19 team in a four-match series scheduled for January 31, February 2, 4, 6 and 8. The West Indies, semi-finalists in the last YWC in New Zealand two years ago, leave Sri Lanka for Bangladesh on February 8, a week ahead of the World Cup.
The preliminary round of matches in the YWC, starting on February 15, will be played on a round-robin basis and will have 16 teams in four groups.
West Indies will be in Group “D,” along with Pakistan, Ireland and Papua New Guinea. West Indies Under-19 Squad: Dinesh Ramdin (captain), Kirk Edwards (vice-captain), Jonathan Augustus, Rishi Bachan, Lionel Baker, Assad Fudadin, Zamal Khan, Tishan Maraj, Xavier Marshall, Mervyn Matthew, Ravi Rampaul, Liam Sebastien, Lendl Simmons, and Barrington Yearwood.
