Joint crime platform a waste of time
THE EDITOR: One of three suggestions presented by Dr Ramesh Deosaran to solve crime in our nation was to have a joint platform with the PNM and UNC. Put in a more appropriate manner, the Government and Opposition. I wonder if it is because Dr Deosaran is paid by this regime to represent various committees that he refuses to accept that the most serious crime facing our country today is racism and discrimination, which is perpetrated by this regime that keeps his bread buttered. How can the Government and Opposition unite to solve crime when the wealth of this nation is not distributed among all of its people? Who are the recipients of all of the social services in this country? Who are the people that are mostly recruited in all the state enterprises and government projects? Who have been and would be the recipients of the PNM’s government’s housing with particular reference to those now being built in all the marginal constituencies? Who are the people who are mostly subjected to kidnapping and other forms of crime, which the Prime Minister openly jokes about? This regime has recently forced ten thousand employees of Caroni 1975 Ltd out of employment and refuses to offer any social assistance to these people, Mr Deosaran must believe that people in this country are generally stupid.
Mr Deosaran must find the testicular fortitude to tell the PNM that what we have today is not a government but a political party running the affairs of this country. Hence the reason the wealth of our nation is not distributed among all of its people, but only among PNM members. They seek the interest of only those who support the PNM. They publicly and proudly wear the PNM’s party symbol in dealing with the business of the people of this nation. Over $200,000,000 is to be invested on HIV just to keep the supporters of the PNM alive, so they can vote. This nation including Dr Deosaran requires salvation and deliverance from hypocrisy and this biased regime. The criminal element has been afforded protection by this government. The government embraces the criminal element. The government’s intention is to wipe out their political opponents. One does not have to be a rocket scientist to know that the only political solution to reduce racism, discrimination and crime in general in our nation is fundamental constitutional reform, with particular reference to proportional reprsentation. A joint platform under the present circumstances is an insult to the intelligence of the non-PNM supporters and a waste of thought.
