Walk the walk, Insp Holder

THE EDITOR: Inspector Christopher Holder, claims that, quote, “We know that you have lost some measure of confidence in the Police Service, and we know that this did not happen overnight. It took a number of years. But what we are asking you, is that we be given the opportunity to regain that confidence.” Well before any of you try to have any confidence, please take this into consideration. I landed at Piarco on Christmas Eve and immediately after meeting my family and spending a brief period with them, I headed into “town” with my sister to get some final gifts for family members. I met a friend and we decided that we were gonna get some beers (yes I needed a Carib). We went into a bar in that mall across the street from CCN. Nice little “hole.”

Anyway, upon entering I was shocked to see not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven, but eight, Yes eight police officers were there “celebrating the season.” How did I know they were police officers you ask? Well that was easy. They all had their full uniforms on, guns and all. The middle of Christmas Eve, when the city is crowded, a time that history has proven is the highest for petty crimes, our law enforcers were apparently getting drunk with weapons on them. Oh wait, actually what we have here are people who are allowed to use guns, drinking with weapons on their waist while they get paid overtime. A definite recipe for disaster. That’s ok though, because if they had, God forbid, killed someone they would have been cleared of all charges or the gun might have mysteriously disappeared. I hope “yuh doh just talk de talk but walk de walk as well,” Inspector Holder. So go ahead, regain my confidence, I am waiting.
