Suggestions for 2004 and beyond
THE EDITOR: Here are some interesting suggestions for 2004 and beyond, for all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.
All citizens of Trinidad and Tobago need the following:
A new drivers license system that includes immediate computerised tracing by police. A new number plate system to re-register all new and existing vehicles, which would be done and controlled exclusively by the Government. Proper systems to collect all fines related to parking and moving violations and get rid of the wrecker downtown. To remove indefinitely vehicles that are in deplorable condition, and those over 18-years-old. To double all existing fines and/or penalties for traffic violations, firearm related offences, and kidnapping. Frequent inspections for food retailers.
Government regulated monitoring and complaint systems for all monopolies, including banks, utility companies, hire-purchase furniture stores, insurance companies, finance companies and automobiles dealers, to guarantee that consumers are no longer being ripped-off. More inspections and regulations for trucking companies, as well as reckless truck drivers. A penalty system for all vehicles being used with defective lights, turning signals, horns etc. Younger and sincere politicians who would help move Trinidad and Tobago forward. Insurance companies that pay claims just as efficiently as the customers pay their premium.
