Sure Ting gets 56.5 kilos in handicap

SURE TING was allotted top impost of 56.5 kilos for the sole handicap race on the Arima Race Club round two programme at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, on Saturday.

The Glen Mendez-trained filly was handed topweight by handicappers Wayne Shockness and Robin Jaisingh to compete against ten runners in the Restricted Handicap. The American-bred four-year-old which was beaten by Tactical Bid in the final leg of the Jockeys’ Championship Race on New Year’s Day, has been asked to hand out from one kilo to Kalyan to 9.5 to bottom weight Indian Decision in the 1750 metres race framed for West Indian bred three-year-olds and over winners, and imported three-year-olds and over.

Also holding the engagement are importations Crimson Tower and Gaza Strip, who were each assigned 54.5 kilos. Barbados-bred Mandela was allotted 54 kilos while local filly Golden Honour was given 53.5 kilos. Mandela was recently claimed out of owner-trainer Maniram “Boboy” Maharaj’s barn. Golden Honour for whom first subscription was paid to race in the Tangle Wood Stakes at the Garrisson Savannah, Bridgetown, Barbados, on March 6, will use the race as a warm up.
