No justice in TT

THE EDITOR: The Law, it is said is an ass. Nowhere in the world is that statement than right here in Trinidad and Tobago. The Police and the Justice system we operate continue to prove this over and over again. How can one explain the fact that the Police can find the time and money to fly to the UK to dig up dirt on Basdeo Panday, but can’t find the money to fly in a witness for the Akiel Chambers inquiry? I estimated that it is costing the people of this country almost 70,000 dollars to send Virgil and company to London. One must also recall that this is also their second trip to the UK.

The DPP can also find money to hire Timothy Cassel, a well known QC to prosecute Mr Panday, but cannot get a QC to prosecute Abu Bakr and Ian Atherly. Alas, that is justice and fairplay Trinidad style. I expect that anyone who stands in the PNM’s way will never get justice in Trinidad. Justice can only be found in the hallowed corridors of the Privy Council far away in England.
