St Joseph’s Convent splash to w-polo victory

ST JOSEPH’S CONVENT, Port-of-Spain have made a good start to the Royhil Seals Water Polo Club-sponsored Secondary Schools League at Marlins Swim Pool, Westmoorings. The Convent girls whipped Holy Name Convent 14-10 in the opening match of the three-team series on Saturday last. Bridgit Bocage put St Joseph’s ahead in the first session, but led by Shannon Duval, Holy Name went in to the interval leading 6-5. But St Joseph’s battled back to level the scores 8-8 at the half-time interval. It was a see-saw battle in the final stanza, but with Jenna Boxill scoring six goals, Adidi Abraham and Bocage three each and Anjani Ganase two, St Joseph’s held on for the victory.

Duval netted seven goals for Holy Name while Rene Pouchet scored two and Liz-Ann Jaggernauth got the other. The other team in the league is Bishop Anstey who play Holy Name this weekend. Matches in the Open Male category got off to a sour start as St Mary’s failed to show for their fixture against St Anthony’s College. International School and South Secondary also defaulted their matches. But in First Form Division action, Fatima beat QRC 7-2 with Mttheaus Otero scoring five of the goals and Rory Yearwood getting the other two.  Keigan Forde got both goals for QRC.
