Honore impresses in US v-ball

NATIONAL junior ace blocker Marc Anthony Honore made a big impression in his first outing with the Saint Francis University senior volleyball team. Although his team, nicknamed the “Red Flash” went down to the popular Ohio State University 3-0, Honore emerged as the leading player with 15 points from 11 kills, two service aces and four assisted block shots. Ohio, known as the “Buckeyes” prevailed over Saint Francis 30-18, 30-24 and 30-23 as their lead senior spiker Mike Wauligman extended his streak of double-figure kills to seven.

Honore who became the first Trinidadian male player to gain a scholarship to play in the NCAA Division One in the United States, will also be keen to extend his double-figure kills. His performance has already attracted the attention of opposing team coaches and his coach Rummy was busy acceding to requests from Penn State University and Rutgers University for copies of the tape from the “Buckeyes” match. Honore said: “The other University teams have already asked our coach to send them a tape with the match against Ohio. “They have requested it and I am sure they would be preparing to block me out in the matches against their teams.”
