Sugar Mike won dope free

CONNECTIONS of  Sugar Mike, Pave The Way and Trini To D Bone will soon have smiles on their faces again.

The trio which won Jetsam Awards for their performances last season were given the all-clear, along with  other winners of races on Days 38 and 39 by the Trinidad and Tobago Racing Authority after their urine/blood samples taken after victory showed up negative for dope. Sugar Mike who was voted Horse of the Year got clearance for victories scored on both days which ended the Arima Race Club 2003 racing season.

The Grant Lourenco-trained star was declared free of any foreign substance for wins in the Stewards Cup on December 13 (Day 38) and the Gold Cup won on December 26 (Day 39). Trini To D Bone and Pave The Way got their all-clear for victories recorded  in the St Anns Stakes and St James Stakes, the juvenile features which complimented the Gold Cup on the Guardian Life Holdings-sponsored Boxing Day card. 

Set to collect purse monies also for races won on both days are connections of American-bred three-year-olds Fabulous Risk and Fantastic Story. Fabulous Risk turned in his maiden certificate on the first of the days declared dope free, while the other budding star closed off his season in style on the final day of  racing at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, last term.

Following are the winners of of  both days: Day 38 — Laura’s Boy, Ballybunion, Fabulous Risk, Living In Hope, Privilege, Kay-Gee-Bee, Golden Honour, Yankee Eagle, Sugar Mike and My Son John.
Day 39 — Fresh Mandate, Due Dilligence, Fortunate Flag, Mandela, Fantastic Story, Alibi Ike, The Chairman, Trini To D Bone, Sugar Mike and New Star.
