Windies ‘B’ make Leewards follow on

CHARLESTOWN: Batting a second time in the third-round Carib Beer Series regional cricket  clash, the Leeward Islands reached 57 for the loss of three wickets against the West Indies “B” team yesterday.

Shane Jeffers was bowled out for 10, while Alex Adams went out at nine and Sylvester Joseph who scored 18. Windies pacer Jason Bennet grabbed two wickets for 27 runs off seven overs, with the third scalp going to Ryan Austin, for eight runs off three overs. Resuming play today at the wicket are Tonito Willette, on 12, and night watchman Browne, on one. The Leewards were bowled out for 171 in 55.3 overs in their first-innings and invited to follow on at 4:28 pm,  thanks to fine bowling from the West Indies “B” and indifferent batting from the Leeward Islands. Debutante Dennis George was the pick of the bowlers in the first innings, with four wickets for 49 runs off 12 overs. Earlier, the West Indies “B” finished their first innings with 339.
