Lourenco trio in fast breeze

Song Of Freedom, Fantastic Story and Twice Infallibly showed that they are in good niche going into round three of the Arima Race Club season. The trio topped the times for their 600 metres spin on the exercise course at Santa Rosa Park, Arima yesterday morning. Attached to trainer Grant Lourenco’s stable, they paced in the backstretch and increased to raceday speed breezing the last 600 metres of the main course in 35.41 seconds. Song Of Freedom, who is expected to have a farewell race before travelling to Barbados to compete in the Sandy Lane Spa Sprint on March 6,  held a slight advantage for most of the way. But he gave way to the finishing speed of his younger stablemates close to the finishing line. Sugar Mike and Golden Honour, who are also targetting the other two highlights at the Garrison Savannah in early March used the opportunity given at the break period to exercise clockwise.

Golden Honour, one two runners from TT to initally subscribed to the Tanglewood Stakes was allowed the lead in their 1000 metres workout, but looked overmatched against the Sandy Lane Gold Cup entry recently voted “Horse of the Year.” Though the pair has never raced right-handed competitively they still managed to post 1:05.42 seconds on the clock for their efforts. Smart And Lucky, Miss Lover Lover, The Chairman, Lovely Honoree, Super Grey, Skye Skipper and Lovely Honoree showed up well over 800 metres, and Sure Wager, Jelenia Gora, Mary Magdalene, Reign Of Fire, Return To Sender, Hyarima and Highness showed speed from the top of the straight to the winning line.
