Warm-up win for Windies U-19s

COLOMBO: The West Indies Under-19 are celebrating their first win on their brief tour of Sri Lanka before they move on to Bangladesh for the ICC U-19 World Cup next month. Playing in a warm-up match against the Sri Lanka U-17s - ahead of four one-day matches against the Sri Lanka U-19s — at the Moors Sports Club, the West Indies U-19 won the toss, decided to bat first and posted a reasonable total of 260 for eight off of their allotment of overs.

According to information released by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), the young Windies got good starts from their top order, no one carried on to make any big score. Sri Lanka Under 17 in reply were dismissed for 217. The West Indies got solid performances in the batting department from Tishan Maraj (45), Xavier Marshall (41), Jonathan Augustus (38), Liam Sebastian (30) and captain Dinesh Ramdin (25). In the bowling department Zamal Khan (2/18), Barrington Yearwood (2/43) and Lionel Baker (2/63) led the way.
