Azlan snaps another winner!

SENIOR Newsday photographer Azlan Mohammed has done it again! This time he was adjudged winner of the award for the best photograph taken on New Year’s Day on the FCB-sponsored card at Santa Rosa Park, Arima.

The thrilling action shot captured Sugar Mike, ridden by champion jockey Brian Harding flying past Napoleon, with Ricardo Jadoo up to win the Sian Gold Cup sprint. This latest accolade comes on the heels of the Betting Levy Board (BLB) prize which Mohammed also copped two weeks ago for another heart-stopping photograph taken on BLB Day last December.

Mohammed is no stranger to having his efforts in photography richly rewarded but over the past two years has especially made his talent known in the realm of horseracing. His knack for capturing the right moment which creates the standout images has received wide acknowledgement from the general public who look forward to seeing his exemplary work published in Newsday. Mohammed attributes his success in the photographic field to a willingness to innovate and to try different angles in crafting the best image using the available light in the most testing circumstances. And timing he insists is crucial to getting the photo right.
