Beacon shine Cycle Smart Programme

In their continuing drive to foster growth among Trinidad and Tobago’s young cyclists,  Beacon Insurance Company and Phillips Promotions began their Cycle Smart Programme on Saturday at King George V Park, St Clair. The programme is designed to develop “the basic ability to use a bicycle with confidence and competence for pleasure, utility and or sport under various roadway, climate, terrain and traffic conditions” according to Attala Maharaj, Marketing and Communications Executive of Beacon.

The initial phases of the programme will target children and organisers hope to eventually include toddlers and adults as they move toward proper education and awareness programmes facilitating safer use of the nation’s roads. Former national track champion Michael Phillips will co-ordinate the programme while Roger Gibbon, Maxwell Cheeseman, Leslie Rawlins, the Dickie Brothers, Clinton Grant and other national cyclists will be on hand as able Programme Instructors.
