The gift of giving is the gift of the heart

THE EDITOR: For the past fifteen years Families In Action has been in existence with the sole aim of promoting healthy family life in our country through the balancing of emotional, spiritual and physical needs. We are moved to regenerate both the family unit and any of the individual members of that unit experiencing pain, difficulty or isolation.

Through our Social Services Department we feed, clothe and at times give shelter to the most needy in our society. We also distribute hampers every month, with our largest distribution of hampers to the needy occurring in the month of December. In order to distribute these hampers, we solicit donations of clothing, toys and foodstuff from companies and individuals; and in December 2003 the harvest was truly great at Families In Action! This Christmas we were able to feed over two hundred families spanning the East/West Corridor as well as South and Central Trinidad.

Our country has a special core of people and despite the high price we are paying for our development there are still those who give selflessly. Families In Action would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our donors — companies, individuals, and volunteers. Thank you for your donations of foodstuff, clothing, toys and your time; without you we would not have been able to feed, clothe and at times give shelter to the needy. Again we say a heartfelt “thank you”.
