Trio fined for ‘ganja’

THREE PEOPLE were fined $500 each after pleading guilty to possession of marijuana.

Kevin Ramkissoon, 25, his common-law-wife Nisha Ali, 33, and Mickey Ramkissoon, 22, appeared before San Fernando Magistrate Sonia Aleong. Court prosecutor Cpl Joey Samaroo told the court at around 10.45 pm on Sunday, police on patrol along Hilda Lazarri Street, Les Efforts, spotted a parked car in which the three accused were seated. The officers became suspicious when they saw one of the occupants acting in a strange manner. They searched the vehicle and found the drugs between the seats, wrapped in a white plastic bag. Nisha Ali broke down in tears as she pleaded with Magistrate Aleong on behalf of the trio. She begged the magistrate: “Please give us a fine.” Kevin Ramkisson later explained that he and Mickey Ramkissoon are not related but the latter was staying at his home because none of his relatives are in the country.
