Golden Honour ready for Bajans
TOP four-year-old filly, Golden Honour is ready to challenge the best in the Tanglewood Stakes at the Garrison Savannah, Bridgetown, Barbados, next month. The daughter of Freshly Squeezed/Silicious showed off her well-being with a splendid run over 600 metres going right-handed at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, yesterday. Andrew Dulal-Whiteway’s stable star who will leave for Barbados today along with Carnival Messiah and “Horse of the Year” Sugar Mike, completed her run in a splendid 34.3 seconds and looked full of life at the end.
The filly owned by Linford Carrabon seems ready to test the best in the 1600 metres Bajan race on Sandy Lane Gold Cup Day, March 6. A fourth Trinidad-owned horse making the trip to Barbados, Le Fabuleux Dansur, will use the Champagne Stakes on Saturday as part of his preparation for his tilt at the Gold Cup. But connections of both Song Of Freedom and Bandinthong have decided against sending their horses to Bridgetown. Horses preparing for Saturday’s ten-race programme at Arima, took things very easy in the main. But Lady Rossie gave notice she is back to her best with a run out over 400 metres which was completed in 23.2 seconds, fastest over the trip for the morning. Also having a day out was the disappointing three-year-old filly French Academy, seen pacing over 1000 metres in a modest 1:12.1 seconds.
