St Clair due back home on Friday
TRINIDAD and Tobago’s men’s football team coach Bertille St Clair is expected to return home on Friday following a week-long stay in England. The Tobagonian also underwent a series of tests at the Princess Royal Hospital in Lilleshall for severe stomach pains. The coach was admitted into the medical facility on Sunday but no major problem was detected by the doctors. Among the members of the local football fraternity who expressed their support to St Clair during his time at the hospital was Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) special adviser and FIFA vice-president Jack Austin Warner.
Also expressing concern were newly-appointed technical director Lincoln Phillips, ex-national coach Alvin Corneal and English-based professionals Dwight Yorke, Shaka Hislop, Anthony Rougier, Clayton Ince, Hector Sam and Stern John. And assistant coach Ron La Forest will hold the team’s first training session (since St Clair’s appointment last month) at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Tunapuna, from 3 pm today. The team is preparing for two friendly internationals against Bermuda, in Bermuda on February 10 and 12, followed by a match-up against a Brazil All Star team at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, on February 17.
