‘Scavenger Hunt’ in CariFin Urban Challenge
THE CariFin four-part Cross Country run has a change of name as from this year. As one of several changes, the run will now be known as the CariFin Four-Part “Urban Challenge” after 12 years. And organisers have decided to introduce a “Scavenger Hunt” to their programme. And to show an example, Central Bank governor Ewart Williams and his deputy, Scotiabank CEO Richard Young and First Citizens Bank top brass Larry Howai will be joined by several senior managers for the event. According to the the “Urban Challenge” calendar, following a one-lap race around the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain the Green Mile introduced for the first time last year, will be run off on February 11. This event won by Joel Bharrat in five minutes 24 seconds and Ochanna Ogburo (7:18) will be contested around the outside of the sand track, Queen’s Park Savannah.
March 3 is the date set for the mini-cross country run within the perimeter of the Botanic Gardens, starting at the entrance opposite the rugby field. And on March 10 will be the inaugural think and run race, while the CariFin fitness burnout takes place on March 17 at the Central Bank, Eric Williams Plaza. All events begin at 5 pm. Following this will be the torch run from the Central Bank, along the Eastern Main Road to Curepe Junction, then to the Kay Donna Drive-In Cinema and along the Old Southern main Road to Couva. This is scheduled for April 17 from 7 am. And the programme will culminate with the annual CariFin cross country and Family Day on April 25.
