BWIA Invaders forms Foundation
BWIA Invaders has established “The Invaders Foundation.” The Foundation’s main objective at this time is to raise funds to acquire the land the band currently occupies at 147 Tragarete Road, Port-of-Spain and to construct a proper “home.” The band said the Foundation also hopes to provide support/developmental programmes for players and to provide a service to the community.
A statement from the band said it is currently exploring all avenues to secure the property it occupies, since the owners are offering the property for sale. The band has been given first preference to acquire the land. It said an aggressive fund-raising drive will be mounted to that end. The Foundation Board of Directors comprises “friends” of the band and includes chairman Terrence Boswell-Inniss, attorney-at-law, with other directors being David Hackett, banking executive; Dune H Ali, business executive; George Matthew, retired PRO, Petrotrin; Edgar Wilson, of Invaders Elders Association, and Michael Dinchong, Invaders manager. Secretary of the Foundation is Elizabeth Namsoo, the band’s public relations officer.
