Another Sinanan admitted to the Bar

ANOTHER member of the Sinanan family has been admitted to the Bar of Trinidad and Tobago to practice as a lawyer. Nicholas Justin Sinanan, 27, son of Dr Joel Sinanan and Indira Sinanan was admitted Friday during a simple ceremony at the Hall of Justice, Port-of-Spain. Sinanan was admitted with Tamara Rene Gosine before Justices Peter Jamadar and Sebastien Ventour in the Port-of-Spain First Civil Court. Nichola Sinanan attended Presentation College, San Fernando from 1988 to 1995. In 1998, he was awarded a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Wolverhampton, England. From 1998 to 2000, Sinanan was employed at  Development Finance Limited (DFL) as a financial analyst and company secretary.

Sinanan left for England in 2002 after accepting a place on the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law. The following year, he was awarded a post-graduate diploma in Professional Legal Skills by the City University and was called to the Bar of England and Wales at Gray’s Inn. Avory Sinanan SC presented Nicholas’ petition before the High Court. He told the court that Nicholas was another member of the Sinanan family to become a lawyer. He pointed out that Nicholas’ uncle Barry Sinanan, who was present in court, is also an attorney. Sinanan also spoke of Nicholas’ grandfather, the legendary politician, Ashford Sinanan.

Tamara Gosine accepted a place at the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law. After securing her diploma, Gosine was called to the Bar of England and Wales at Lincoln’s Inn. She spent six months in-service training with Hobson’s in San Fernando. She is presently employed at the National Gas Company (NGC). Om Lalla presented Gosine’s petition. Justice Jamadar, in welcoming the two new lawyers to the profession, said he was very familiar with the Sinanan family. He pleaded with the new attorneys to carry out their functions with integrity. Justice Ventour asked both newcomers to pursue their career at the Bar with character and competence.
