Morvant man shot dead
Murder number 37 for the year was recorded in Morvant yesterday.
Kevon Charles, 22, of Romain Lands, Morvant, died of gunshot to the left side of his chest while undergoing surgery at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, yesterday.
According to reports, Charles, who survived a shooting attempt last year, was at a standpipe in Mon Repos, Morvant, at about 1.30 am when a white car pulled up with two men. One of them came up and fired several shots which hit Charles in the chest. The men then escaped in the car. On hearing the gunshots, neighbours went to the standpipe where they found Charles lying on the ground in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the hospital where he died.
When Newsday visited the area, residents refused to say anything and police confirmed they too have been getting no information or assistance from residents and cannot say what happened.
Cpl Thomas is investigating.
