Farmer chopped, daughter gang-raped
A 47-year-old farmer was chopped and his teenaged daughter was gang-raped during a robbery at their Chase Village home on Friday night. According to police reports, at around 9.45 pm, the farmer and his 18-year-old daughter were at their home when three men armed with cutlasses stormed into the house. The farmer was chopped on his right hand and robbed of $300 and jewelry valued $7,000. Two of the men then took the young woman into a bedroom and took turns raping her. They took keys to the farmer’s car and drove off. The car was later found burnt at Soogrim Trace, Endeavour Road.
Father and daughter were taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where the man was treated for his wound. The teenager was medically examined by a doctor who confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted. PC Figaro of the Freeport Police Station is continuing investigations. Central police are also searching for a man who shot 26-year-old Roosevelt Cordio, of Amaroosingh Road, Long-denville, on Saturday. Cordio was walking along the street when he was confronted by a man, armed with a gun. The man fired several shots at Cordio, one of which struck him in his lower abdomen. Cordio, who underwent emergency surgery at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, is said to be in stable condition. Investigations are continuing.
